December 2016 Newsletter

Hi, and welcome to my latest newsletter.  I’m here in one of my favourite places in our home, the library, with (L-R) Oscar, Spook and our late friend Cosmo – our cat who we had to sadly say goodbye to this month. RIP.
It has been a year of great highs – with the hardback of ‘Love You Dead’ achieving a record, for me, of three weeks at No 1 and 11 weeks in the Top 10, and the national tour of the stage play of The Perfect Murder playing to packed theatres.  But I’ve also had great sadness with the death of my wonderful agent for 16 years, and close friend, Carole Blake.
2017 promises to be the most exciting year yet, with two novels coming out (more below) a new stage play and, I’m very hopeful of some exciting news on the TV front soon.
Thank you for all you support in 2016 and I wish all of you a very happy, healthy and above all safe New Year.

Diamond Dagger Award

I am thrilled and immensely proud to have been presented with the Crime Writers Association Diamond Dagger, at their annual awards ceremony back in October. Thanks to all at the wonderful CWA for giving me an honour which, when I was first published all those years back, was one I could only dream of achieving – and never thought I would.

I am really excited to share with you some more interviews! I’ve interviewed many of the most popular authors in the world, along with up and coming ones, and influential people related to the publishing world, asking quick questions that I think would be of interest to anyone who loves books, is an author or would like to be one.  I hope you enjoy watching them – I am posting a new one each week on my YouTube channel PeterJamesTV.

Not Dead Enough comes to stage…

The third book in my Roy Grace series is starting it’s nationwide stage tour of the UK on January 25th in Dartford. We have a stellar cast including award-winning actor Shane Richie , Laura Whitmore, one of the stars of 2016’s Strictly Come Dancing, and Stephen Billington, best known for roles on Hollyoaks and Coronation Street.

All details on my website.

And for 2017…

I have now delivered the edited second draft of ‘Need You Dead ‘ – the 13th Roy Grace novel, and it will be published in May 2017 in the UK, and the USA and Commonwealth within a few weeks after.  For those of you worried about superstition let me assure you that thirteen is my lucky number!   I’m excited about this book – as you know I try to be a little different with each Roy Grace novel and this one is a first for me – a “whodunnit?”  I really hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.

Separately, I am very busy with a new standalone novel to be called ‘Absolute Proof’ and am already three-quarters of the way through.  I’m hugely excited about this book, which I have been researching for 23 years – and will be telling you a lot more about it soon…   It will be published in the UK on October 5th and again, in the USA and Commonwealth shortly after.
