Fan Email Of The Year!
I get many emails every day from you, my wonderful readers here in the UK and around the world. Mostly they are really nice, occasionally they point out an error, just occasionally they are somewhat blunt, like one I received a couple of months ago:

"Dear Mr James, I have just worked out that I am quite a bit younger than you, and I suspect I am probably fitter than you, which means you are likely to die before me. I hope that you have got the resolution to Sandy's disappearance safely tucked away in your publisher's vaults, so that in the event of your sudden demise, we, your loyal readers, are not left in suspense for ever."

Well, I can assure this reader that I am thinking hard about this!

My favourite email of all this year, so far at any rate, is one from a police officer in Brighton, a Detective Constable, who wrote to tell me that he started reading my books after he arrested a suspect earlier this year, and when he was booking him into custody, the suspect turned to him and said, "You know, you're just like a cop in a Peter James novel!"

What can you say to that, heres looking forward to many more years of Roy Grace and Peter James.

As a family we havent had such a good time this year and putting it behind us is something we are all looking forward to.

Reading has been my salvation and finding your novels has been a great way of escape.

I love going to bed to see what my favorite character is up to in my latest book. I have read more this year then ever.

Hope you have a good christmas and new year and I look forward to the next Peter James.

Hi Peter,

Thank you, Jacqueline and Robert!

Hope you both have hugely happy Christmases and tons and tons of good luck for 2009

Hello Peter,

My husband and I love your books - we both sit there in bed reading them !! And I irritate him by asking him questions about what is going to happen (if he has already read the book ..)
Anyway - we both wonder why Glenn Mishon and his company get mentioned so many times - has he paid to be included in yours books?! Or is he just a good mate of yours? People living outside of Brighton would probably not notice - but we find it quite amusing...!

Looking forward to the next book already.

Hi Carla and Stuart

Thanks so much for your kind comments - you put a big smile on my face as I try to imagine your scenario reading my books!!!

Glenn has never paid to be in my books - he is a close friend and I dod it as a kind of joke - although he was not impressed in Not Dead Enough when I described him as looking like an ageing rock star!!! I do a couple of times a year offer the opportunity to be a character as an auction prize, and once as a promotion prize for Tesco, but occasionally I put a friend or their business in for fun (and without telling them...)

All very best for 2009 and I hope you long continue to enjoy my work.

All very best

Thanks for your reply Peter!
Oooh I would love to be a character in your book - but it would have to be an interesting female!
Can't wait for your next book already! Run out of Roy Grace books now...unfortunately.
We read them on our daily commute up to London as well - what a sad pair we are !

Love for now
Carla

Sad???? Never! If you are a Roy Grace fans you are enlightened, charming, intelligent, possessing a great sense of humour, a massive IQ, gigantic bandwith, generous spirited and be an all-round great human being! I know this as fact - it is my "typical reader" profile!!!!!

Hi...I've been reading novels now for over 60 years.
I started with "Just William" and Biggles before graduating to more adult literature.
Being a pensioner I can no longer afford to buy books so I use the public libraries, there being a dozen close to where I live, this is no difficulty.
A million books but finding something to equal Peter James is nigh on impossible.
I've got to say that the Roy Grace series are among the most exciting I have ever read and I cannot wait for "Dead Man's Footsteps" to hit my libraries.

Please ...write faster....LOL

Dear Mr James,

I've just started reading Dead Men's Footsteps, and i'd like you to know I'm thoroughly enjoying your books. I hope there will be many more Grace books.

Kindest regards,

Dear Caroline

Thank you very much for such kind words! I'm just finishing the edit on the 5th Roy Grace "Dead Tomorrow" and about to start on the 6th. I plan to write many of them - and to continue all the time that kind readers like yourself are so enthusiastic!

All very best for 2009

Hi Peter

My relationship with my boyfriend has deteriorated since we discovered your books by accident. Neither of us were big readers until a colleague at work gave my boyfriend Dead Simple!
We don't cuddle up at night anymore as we are too interested in what's going to happen in the next chapter of the story.
We have bought all of your books and we argue as to who can read the next new book first.
I hope you are happy with yourself!
I've ordered the next book without him knowing so I can get to it first!

Looking forward to the 6th Roy Grace book. I think I'm in love with him.

All the best

Hi Lynsey and Mark

Oh my God, I am so totally riddled with guilt.... how can I ever make amends...???! But at least you are in love with Roy, Lysey, so if he runs off with you, perhaps Mark can find solace in Cleo????

All very best wishes for 2010 to you both - and I hope my books long continue to play havoc with your relationship :-)))))
