A Special Night For Dead Man's Footsteps

Dead Man's Footsteps goes on sale in the UK on Thursday June 12th, and is strictly embargoed by my publishers until then. However, for those of you who really cannot wait (a huge thank you!!!!) Waterstones in Notting Hill Gate has a special exemption to sell it on the evening of Wednesday June 11th. I am doing a reading, interview and signing there at 7pm.

It is a ticketed event (£3.00 redeemable against the purchase of any book) but numbers are limited. It would be great to see you, so if you would like to come please phone them on 020 7229 9444 and book.

It was great to meet you at the Ropetackle Centre in Shoreham last week and hear tasters of the new book. It was a very enjoyable evening.
Can I ask how you think up characters and names for the stories? Are they totally made up or based on people you meet?

Hi Peter, can't wait for 12/6/08, feel like I have been treading water with my reading material for ages now....lucky Notting Hill is all I can say!! Good luck is not necessary, am I behind the times or has Roy been cast for TV yet? I can't get my head round that really already having my own "Roy Grace" image from the books, anyway love keeping up with your website, keep up the good work.

Hi Alan and Donna, huge apologies for the delay in responding to your kind posts.

Alan, the names are a combination of people I have met and ones I have made up - or seen in a newspaper or even on a shopfront. I'm an avid collector of names, as I think it is important to have clearly differentiated names of characters, so if I come across a name I write it down for future use.

Donna, re TV I just put up a post last week on the latest developments. More news will follow but not for a while.
